We are open Monday through Friday, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm.

And to provide support for those needing more safety, we will continue our Curbside Pick-up and Mail Service.

Diane and HeidiWe’d love it if you come and visit us. We are here to help you any way we can!

Whether it’s advice on yarns or patterns, placing a special order for you — or help with a problem — we’d love to assist you. All our staff are expert knitters — with some weavers, crocheters, spinners and felters, too. This means we have the knowledge you need to resolve most any fiber question.  And we offer classes daily as well.

As Portland’s Oldest Yarn Shop, our customers span multiple generations. We love watching our fiber family expand and grow! We work hard to provide every customer great service. And we believe this should include not only technical expertise, but being friendly and kind, too.

We have a very large yarn inventory, carrying all the big name commercial yarns, plus lots of indies. We make sure we have lots of color choices in our yarns, as well as sweater or afghan quantities for your larger projects. We also carry yarns for dyeing in many different fibers.

We remain committed to all natural fibers. We carry the full range of animal fibers: from alpaca, angora, bison, camel, cashmere, llama, merino, mohair, wool and yak. We have lots of plant-based fibers too: bamboo, chenille, cotton, linen blends, rayon, silk, tencel, and viscose. You can view the full listings of our yarns by manufacturers.

We carry the largest inventory of spinning and felting fibers in Portland. We have hand-dyed roving braids from Dicentra Designs and Woolgatherings, colored merino roving from Foxglove Fibers and un-dyed white top roving from Brown Sheep. Plus we carry un-dyed unique or rare breed roving from Shaggy Bear Farms, as well as other specialty fibers.

We also carry a very large selection of needles, hooks, accessories, patterns, books, magazines and gift items – all aimed at fiber artists’ needs. We have one of the largest button selections in town, many from independent artists like One of a Kind Buttons, and Favour Valley Buttons. Among our exclusive offerings are hand-thrown yarn bowls with matching mugs by Oregon Master Potter Frank Philipps. These are really a treat for yourself – or make wonderful gift items.

We support weavers, spinners, and felters with equipment and accessories to meet their needs. Some are available in shop, others are available as a special order – to ensure you get the exact specifications your require. We offer a wide array of knitting, weaving, crochet, felting and spinning classes with some of the most experienced instructors in the Portland area. Please see our classes page for more information, or contact the store by phone for more information or to register: 503-244-5024.

We Are Located in Charming Multnomah Village

Come visit Multnomah Village where Northwest Wools is located.

Historic Multnomah Village is located on the near West side, just minutes from downtown Portland. It’s quaint, charming, a bit off-center and quintessentially Portland. Southwest Portland’s Multnomah Village is filled with character – as well as dozens of unique shops, galleries, restaurants, a wine bar and a brewpub, professional services, and the Multnomah Arts Center.

We are located just a few miles south of downtown Portland, Oregon, in quaint Multnomah Village. The Village offers hip local shops, restaurants, coffee shops and bars, the Multnomah Arts Center, and plenty of free parking. We are also on the TriMet bus routes so from downtown you can take lines #44 or #45 and it stops right in front of our Yarn Shop.

So excited for the Shaggy Bear Farms Pop-up Shop tomorrow! Wendy will be here from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm with LOADS of great yarns and fiber. Please come out to support Wendy and her animals if you can -- Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival has been canceled again this year, due to the pandemic, so she won't have that revenue coming in this year. All of those fiber-providing animals need to eat!Hope to see you tomorrow!Shaggy Bear FarmsMultnomah Village ... See MoreSee Less
