Design and Knit a Top-Down Raglan Sweater
Instructor Ann Chaves
January 10 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Do you see sweaters in stores that you would like to knit yourself? Have you ever wanted to combine elements of two or three different sweaters into one project? Have you always dreamed of designing the perfect sweater to fit you? Then this class is for you! Instructor Ann Chaves will guide you through all the steps of taking your ideal sweater from dream to reality in this five-session class. Ann will show you how to design your own sweater based on your gauge, so that you won’t have to depend on a pattern to know what to do. You will be able to make the sweater you want with the yarn you want. She will guide you through the ins and outs of gauge, so you can confidently calculate all the numbers involved in creating a sweater. The class consists of five sessions stretched over seven weeks – so that you have some weeks off to work on knitting your creation. You can choose to design either a cardigan or a pullover for your project. And Ann has created a special Workbook just for this Class, so you can use it to make this sweater – and use it for future sweaters, too! Instructor Ann Chaves has been knitting all her life. She earned a degree in Art Education with an emphasis on Fiber Arts. A love of embroidery in the Arts and Crafts style led her to teaching and designing, and she now teaches embroidery workshops all over the country. Ann also teaches Group Knitting Classes here at Northwest Wools. We are delighted to have her as part of our Teaching Staff! This class will not only introduce you to sweater design, it will also give you a higher sense of control over your knitting even when following someone else’s pattern. This is a great opportunity to learn something new in the New Year!
More dates to come!
Class is limited to 6 students, to ensure a high level of attention to each student.
Be sure to pick up an information sheet when you register for the class. You will need to purchase yarn for your sweater, and knit and block a swatch prior to the first class session.
