We are excited to welcome Michele Lee Bernstein to Northwest Wools in January, to teach her Two-Color Brioche class! If you have been interested in jumping into this fun technique, this class is for you, as it was designed specifically for knitters who are brand-new to brioche.

Michele will teach students how to knit a basic brioche rib with two colors, using her Petite Brioche pattern to begin either a headband or cowl. Michele has designed this class and project to be an easy introduction to brioche. The class will also cover how to fix common mistakes in brioche knitting.

Michele Lee Bernstein has been knitting since her favorite aunt taught her when she was 14. She began designing about 10 years ago, and designed “Rosaria,” the first-ever Mystery Knit-along Shawlette for the Rose City Yarn Crawl in 2014.

“I love designing accessories,” says Michele, “especially if they use one or two skeins of very special yarn. I’m fond of texture (cables, lace, entrelac, elongated stitches) and how interesting techniques can be used to make small objects sing.”

In addition to her design work, Michele also teaches at local yarn shops, fiber festivals and retreats. Her patterns are available on Ravelry.com.
