Sunday, March 10th
10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Michele LeBlanc Dillon and Mike Dillon of Toots LeBlanc & Co. Yarns will be with us Sunday for a one-day Pop-up Shop. Michele purchases wool from small family farmers throughout the West Coast and custom blends the fibers to create her unique, undyed yarns. We are sad to say this Event at Northwest Wools will be the last for Michele, as she will be retiring from yarn-making after these many years. So please do stop by to say good-bye to Michele and to purchase some of her very special yarns directly from her for the last time. Northwest Wools will continue to carry Toots LeBlanc & Co. yarns until we run out of our inventory.
Michele learned to spin in her early twenties, which led to a deeper awareness of the qualities of different types of wool and the purposes for which they are best-suited. Each batch of wool she purchases for her yarns is hand cleaned, sorted and inspected for color and fiber content. Fibers are custom blended to create a unique yarn. The wool is then minimally processed without the use of harsh detergents or chemicals, and spun into yarn at a local Oregon mill.
Toots LeBlanc yarns are undyed, letting the beauty of the animals’ natural colors speak for itself. Because animals and their coats change from year to year, the same “color” will not look the same from one season to the next. For this reason, Michele dates her yarns so you can match colors by their “fleece lots.” Michele’s yarns also have a natural “halo” effect, creating super soft and lovely projects.
We are thrilled at the chance to offer you some of these exquisite yarns. Quantities are limited, so come early for best selection – especially since this is your last chance to purchase directly from Michele.
Come meet Michele and her husband Mike Dillon of Toots LeBlanc & Co. Yarns during First Friday in Multnomah Village. These super soft yarns are blended with care by Michele LeBlanc Dillon. Michele has been working with a select group of micro-farms for many years and custom blends these all natural fibers to create her beautiful un-dyed yarns. Michele is like a vintner in this respect, and she notes the terroir effect on her fibers by dating her yarns by year. How cool is that?! Fiber Artists in the know value her “Farm to Needle” yarns for their tight twist, natural colors and lovely hand.
We are thrilled at the chance to offer you some of these unique yarns with their self halo-ing effect. Quantities are limited, so come early for best selection. We are the only retail yarn shop carrying this very special yarn — so this is your chance to stock up on this highly desirable and rare yarn!
Come meet Michele LeBlanc Dillon, the creative force behind Toots LeBlanc & Co yarns. Michele has been dedicated to providing the highest quality natural yarns for many years.
Michele LeBlanc Dillon
She is one of our “Farm to Needle” providers, having worked with a handful of micro-farms for over 30 years to produce her special yarns. Although un-dyed, the yarns change color by year due to the “terroir effect” on the animals’ fiber. So Michele dates each yarn batch she creates – so you know the colors will match! How cool is that?!
Michele’s yarns are coveted by Fiber Artists in the know — and we are the only Retail Yarn Shop that carries these very special yarns! Weavers, Knitters and Crocheters all love her yarns. It really shows off their hand-worked patterns – and is super soft with a lovely halo effect.
The company was named for Michele’s Grandmother “Toots”, who taught her to knit at age 5. This local business is run by Michele and her husband Mike Dillon, two super nice people. So come and say hi to them, sip some wine – and check out this very special yarn for the true fiber “aficionado ”! The Toots LeBlanc & Co Trunk Show occurs during First Friday in Multnomah Village — “the Village in the heart of Portland”. Be sure and see what’s happening for First Friday in the other shops, restaurants and bars in the Village!
