During First Friday in Multnomah Village come meet Fourth Generation Oaxacan Weaver Francisco Bautista and his family. Francisco lives with his wife, son and daughter in Oregon and continues to practice weaving according to the traditions he learned from his Father in Mexico. Francisco taught his son David to weave, creating a Fifth Generation Weaver. How cool is that?! Plus his daughter Cynthia draws original art that Francisco interprets into woven pieces. This creates original and dramatic woven art. It’s a true family affair, as his wife Laura weaves as well!
Francisco and Son David will give Weaving Demonstrations during their Trunk Show. This will let you get a true appreciation of Oaxacan Weaving! And they will have finished items on display – and some of their woven items will even be for sale. All proceeds will go to Francisco and his family, so we can support these up-and-coming Oregon Textile Artists. Please Note: Checks and Cash are preferred, but we will accept Credit Cards on their behalf.
Join us for our Second Annual Weavers Showcase — a truly inspirational experience! Sip wine while viewing a wide selection of hand woven items for total Fiber Fun. Some items are even for sale!
We will be showing a wide selection of hand woven items made by the many weavers of the Multnomah Arts Center Weaving Studio, along with weavers from our Rigid Heddle Class and staff members here at Northwest Wools. Woven examples will run the gamut: scarves, shawls, cowls, afghans, pillows, napkins, hand towels, table runners, rugs and more! And best of all, come meet some of the weavers who have created these great pieces! It’s a great time to visit Multnomah Village during our monthly First Friday activities.
We are especially pleased to be showing some of the work from Jaye Campbell, Lead Instructor and Textile Coordinator at the Multnomah Arts Center. Jaye is well known for her restoration work at the Frank Lloyd Wright House at the Oregon Gardens and at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. This is a rare opportunity to see some of her amazing work!
