Take your cable knitting to the next level, come join in and develop the fundamental skill of cable knitting without a cable needle. Tired of losing or misplacing your cable needle? I was too! This class will walk you through tips and tricks for tackling those beautiful cables without that extra needle as we knit up the Emerson hat together.
Skill Level
Intermediate: comfortable with cables, reading knitting instructions
Materials
- Pattern: Emerson is available on Ravelry
- US4/3.5mm and US6/4 mm circular needles in 16”/40 cm circumference, or DPNs
- DK weight yarn
- 1 stitch marker for marking beginning of round, and optional additional markers for marking repeats
You will receive a handout during class on cable knitting tips, with cables covered during class, and photo tutorials.
Materials are not included in the class fee, but registered students receive a 10% discount on supplies purchased in the shop.
Homework
Before you come to class, with the designated yarn and needles, cast on and knit the brim of the hat. This way we are all ready to jump into the cable fun during class.
Bio
Makenzie Alvarez (she/her) is a full-time knitwear designer (Hanks And Needles) in the Portland, Oregon, area. With a background in fine art and an admiration for architecture, she enjoys creating classic and engaging knitting patterns. Her love of the arts and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest inspire her work.

Returns
Unwound, like-new yarn may be returned in-store for store credit within 6 months of purchase. Like-new knitting needles and crochet hooks with original packaging may be returned in-store for store credit within 1 week of purchase.
All items must be accompanied by a receipt. If a return must be shipped back to Northwest Wools, the customer is responsible for all shipping costs.
No returns or exchanges are accepted on any other items, clearance items, or trunk show items.

Dye Lots
Prepackged kits will include yarns of the same dye lot; however, when purchasing yarn by the skein we cannnot garuntee that all skeins in an order will be from the same lot. If you are purchasing multiple skeins for the same project or are attempting to match the dye lot of skeins you already have, please call the shop at (503) 244-5024 to confirm the lot before placing your order.

Classes
We reserve the right to cancel classes any time before the day of the class. We will make every effort to contact students via the contact methods provided at checkout. If Northwest Wools cancels a class, students will receive a full refund.
Students may cancel their registration up to one week in advance of the beginning of class and receive a full refund. Otherwise, classes are non-refundable.
